Wednesday Worship

Our Wednesday evening WWW.KING or Wonderful Wednesdays With The King, praise services give us opportunities for worship and study.  Our praise worship service is held 6:15 - 6:50 p.m.  There is no Communion offered on a regular basis at these services.  Following the worship experience are: confirmation classes, family Bible study, and Bible study for adults and children.  Childcare is available for infants upon request.  There is something for every age.  Special Wednesday evening services are held during the seasons of Advent (the four weeks before Christmas), Lent (the six weeks before Easter), and Summer With the King (during a portion of the summer months).

Services are also held on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

This Week's Message

ASH WEDNESDAY

February 22, 2012

Bread is present throughout the pages of the Bible, but especially at key times of salvation history. This year, during Lent, we will reflect on various Biblical accounts in which bread was present and played an important role. Tonight we will look at the bread mentioned in the early chapters of Genesis. This was a hearty substantial bread which served as a meal—a reward after one’s labor. Genesis 3:19 says, “By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Bread sustained them throughout their lives, just as bread sustains us.

Tonight we will be including, as part of our worship service, the imposition of ashes for those who desire it. If you would like to receive the sign of the cross from the ashes, please come forward down the center aisle as people are coming forward at the time we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. If you do not wish to receive the Lord’s Supper, spend time in silent meditation or prayer. You may wish to meditate on Psalm 32, 51 or 90 in the front of the hymnal.

ChristCare

ChristCare groups are gatherings of approximately 5-12 people, led by a trained and supervised ChristCare Group Leader, who meet regularly to reach up to God and care for others through four activities:

  1. Community Building and Care - ChristCare groups are safe, trusting communities where people can support, nurture, encourage and care for one another.
  2. Biblical Equipping - Group members explore God's Word together and find specific ways to live it out between group meetings.
  3. Prayer and Worship - Group members grow in their ability to pray and worship God - both individually and as a group.
  4. Missional Service - Each ChristCare group shares the blessings God has given them by reaching out to others with Christ's care.

ChristCare Leaders receive 40 hours of training to learn how to be a ChristCare Leader.  Most ChristCare groups meet twice a month in homes or at church.
